A portmanteau of two Italian words — bramare, meaning “to long for,” and alta, meaning “exalted” — Bramalta offers a fresh collection of fabrics and wallcoverings, bringing together a diverse array of traditions and transforming them for modern living. In creating his designs, founder John Sacchetti Donis derives inspiration from a variety of sources, including his years spent studying at the Tyler School of Art in Rome; his family’s original Florentine fondaco on the Piazza del Duomo; and his Anglo-Dutch grandmother, whose ancestors were involved in the wool trade in seventeenth century Delft and Leiden.
