The MAP Collection

In summer 2024, Lewis & Wood debuted their new SRINAGAR MAP Collection. The collection features five new prints —The Map, Asha Stripe, Ravi Ribbon, Regatta, and Utopia — which are all inspired by magnificent Indian embroidery housed at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

The Map

The centerpiece of the collection, Map Maxi presents a massive, life-size print of a luxurious goats wool shawl embroidered for Queen Victoria in the late 1800s, featuring a map of Srinagar — the summer capital of Kashmir and center of shawl production in India. Also available in quarter-scale as Max Mini, the design comes in six beautiful colorways: Aqua Vita, Blue Almond, Garland, Pistachio Rose, Satsuma Soot, and Twilight.

Asha Stripe

Reflecting an optimistic spirit, Asha Stripe is a bold three-pattern, six-color stripe created from elements in the Srinagar Map. Available in four colorways — Blue Almond, Cedar Smoke, Jaipur Spice, and Pistachio Rose —it is based on three different patterns separated from each other by a chevron band that formed part of a garden wall.

Ravi Ribbon

In Ravi Ribbon, Lewis & Wood presents a wide filigree stripe featuring houses, sprigs, and trees edged with a trim of individual animals and tiny hills — all recreated and restored from the outer borders of the Srinagar Map. The design is available in six colorways: Aqua Vita, Blue Almond, Garland, Peat Pomegranate, Pistachio Rose, and Satsuma Soot.

Regatta

Available in six colorways, Regatta takes inspiration from Dal Lake — the northernmost area of the Srinagar Map and one of the most fertile places in India. Featuring snow-capped Himalayas, forests, and rice gardens, the pattern presents a landscape of abstract islands and houseboats surrounded by water birds and hyacinths.

Utopia

As part of the new collection, Lewis & Wood decided to develop a repeat version of Map Maxi, removing all the large eye-catching elements of the original design while putting the design into half drop repeat. Available as a fabric and wallpaper, the resulting pattern — Utopia — comes in six colorways: Aqua Vita, Blue Almond, Garland, Pistachio Rose, Satsuma Soot, and Twilight.
