Behind the name

In creating her fabric and wallpaper collection — Alex Conroy Textiles — Rhode Island-based textile designer Alex Conroy was inspired by a wide range of artistic and decorative styles, including Indian block-prints, Italian ceramics, and English transferware. “I find inspiration everywhere,” Alex notes, “from the natural landscapes of (my home state) California’s rolling hills to wrought iron gates, mosaic floors, and painted tiles.” Of her fabrics and wallpapers, she says, “I have designed a flexible collection that allows clients a broad choice, along with the freedom to mix and match pattern, scale, and color.”

Alex Conroy Textiles linens are hand-drawn and printed to order in Pennsylvania using eco-friendly, light-fast dyes on the finest Belgian linen. Equally sustainable, her wallpaper collection is printed to order in Connecticut on natural sisal and coated papers, while her woven collection is produced by a mill in Pennsylvania, and her outdoor collection is printed in Italy. All of her products are available in two distinct color palettes — bright and pastel — though she always welcomes custom color and pattern requests in order to create a textile that is uniquely yours.
