Behind the name

Nicholas Herbert Ltd. offers an exclusive range of traditional fabrics and wallpapers faithfully reproduced from designs of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries but colored to suit contemporary tastes. 

Founder Nicholas Herbert trained at the premier design house, Colefax & Fowler, working closely with the celebrated George Oakes, before launching his own furnishings and interior design company in 1980 and his own collection of fabrics in 1989. 

For more than three decades, Nicholas Herbert Ltd.'s exclusive collections of fabrics and wallpapers have been widely acclaimed in all the leading style magazines, including World of Interiors, Elle Decoration, and House & Garden, while their fabrics and wallpapers have appeared in Mike Leigh's Mr. Turner, Joe Wright's Atonement and Pride & Prejudice, and Dominic Cooke’s On Chesil Beach.
