Behind the name
From Birmingham-based Smith Diano, Textiles by SMITH is a collection of botanically inspired fabrics and wallpapers in a range of vibrant, versatile colorways.
Her creations put a fresh spin on traditional designs, making them the perfect blend of classic and inventive. Smith earned her degree in Apparel and Textiles Design from The University of Alabama. Upon graduating in 2009, she launched a clothing line, by SMITH, which was carried in upscale boutiques around the world.
Smith’s success in the fashion industry elevated her brand’s appeal, with Southern Living Magazine touting her as a “Designer to Watch” in 2014. After seven years in fashion, Smith pivoted her brand into textiles, launching Textiles by SMITH, which she continues to grow to this day.
