In January of this year, we at Evans & Sheldon had the great pleasure of escaping to London with many of our clients for the inaugural iteration of Design Destination London – a groundbreaking gathering of British makers and American designers featuring unforgettable lectures, excursions, and showroom visits. We began our trip with a visit to the Fermoie factory in Marlborough, where we got an inside look into the making of the brand’s incredible fabrics and accessories.
Trip to London
Later in the week, we hosted a special “Evans & Sheldon Day,” beginning with a private breakfast with the legendary Penny Morrison. For over forty years, Penny has epitomized vibrant living, infusing her homes with color, character, and classic heritage style. Since the launch of her fabric and wallpaper collection in 2009, she has become one of the most sought-after textiles brands in the world. In 2013, she became Evans & Sheldon’s very first line; and today, I am proud to call her my dear friend.
After our breakfast at Penny Morrison, our Evans & Sheldon contingent went out to see two more of our beloved British lines — Lewis & Wood and Nicholas Herbert. We began with a delicious lunch at Lewis & Wood with the brand’s founder Stephen Lewis and Creative Director Magdalen Jebb. From there, we ventured to the Nicholas Herbert showroom on Lots Road, just steps from the Chelsea Design Centre, where founder Nick and his wonderful team greeted us with the tastiest macarons.
After a little break, the lovely Mia Reay of Mia Reay Designs hosted an unforgettable cocktail party at Simon and Cornelia Playle’s gorgeous showroom on Langston Street before we ended our day with a magical dinner at London’s No. Fifty Cheyne...
